Mazda 6 Review: How a Midsize Sedan Can Be Sexy and Cool
Not many models have made an impact as far as the world of midsize sedans is concerned. With competing creations increasing in number, it’s not easy to find a car of this design to stick with. It’s a tough market to enter.
But not for Mazda, one of the leaders of the automobile industry. Mazda is known to be ruthless in its marketing campaigns, but it is fairer to the company to say that the reason why people never lose interest in their offerings is because their cars are worth the attention. Take a look at the Mazda 6.
Aesthetics
The first-generation versions, which carried the blueprint of compactness – a big thing in Europe, including the United Kingdom – as well as sporty suspension tuning, were praised for their notably nimble feel. The second-generation models have retained much of their predecessor’s handling panache and even boast of bigger but sexier vehicular dimensions. Upfront, the new model provides a look of distinctiveness, which calls to mind one of the company’s seductive sports car, the Mazda RX-8. Whichever you prefer, both generations provide you with a more-than-decent choice for a cool-looking midsize sedan.
Performance
The Mazda-6 is powered by a couple of engines. The first one is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that generates 170 horsepower; the second is a 3.7-liter V6 that generates 272 horsepower. The V6 is noted for its power, but it’s also criticized for its fuel economy, which has a tendency to bring up the rear. The first-generation V6 are more nimble when it comes to vigorous driving, but the second-generation has the advantage of lightness, thanks to the significant cut in weight and size.
Quality
The Mazda 6 emanates confidence. With the addition of a superior V6, the recent model can be pitted successfully against the obvious leaders of the group, including the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord, thanks to improved cargo volume, passenger space, and vigor. It can emerge victorious from treacherous back roads, swift corners, and other driving challenges – a cool feat for any midsize sedan to accomplish.
Practicality
The Mazda-6 comes in seven trims, namely the s Grand Touring, s Touring Plus, i Grand Touring, i touring Plus, i Touring, i Sport, and the i SV. The s models are those with a V6. The i models are those with a four cylinder engine. Base models are decently equipped; they boast of xenon headlights, alloy wheels, automatic dual-zone climate control, blind-spot monitoring system, and Bluetooth. Higher models offer a six-CD changer, navigation system, satellite radio, and a sunroof. The Mazda-6 is definitely not your regular midsize sedan and for all these niceties and more, it’s definitely worth the price.
Not everyone shares the same taste for minis. There are still a lot of people who prefer to drive around in sedans that are neither too big nor too small, and with that carry respectable specs. If you’re one of these people, then the Mazda 6 is just for you. Contact your local Mazda showroom for an up-close inspection and test drive of one of today’s most popular midsize sedans.
